Here are 5 reasons why every man in your orientation needs to have his own workbook that accompanies the DVD.
1. Your men will retain the material on the DVD much better if they also see it in the workbook.
The more ways men receive information, the better they learn it. The video is great for motivating through story telling, but the workbook is better for communicating specific information, such as suggested policies and safety concerns.
2. Your men will have the workbook available later as a reference.
As time passes, your men will forget much of what was in the video. By having their own book, they can review the information at a later date.
3. The workbook contains about twice the material that is on the DVD.
As it is, the DVD is 90 minutes long. But there was a lot I couldn’t include in the DVD. The workbook contains diagrams, lists, bible studies and suggestions on how to do men’s team ministry successfully, material that we could not include in the DVD.
4. Your men will be able to list their team members in their workbook.
By the end of the orientation, your men will be formed into teams and they’ll need a record of who their team members are and what their contact information is. The workbook has a page for this information.
5. Your men will develop a clear Biblical overview on the topic of how good works relate to their widowed and single parents in your church when they can see it in black and white.
The goal of the orientation is not just to recruit your men for the ministry, but to teach your men why they are doing the ministry. When they start serving in the home of their care receiver, we want them thinking, “This is exactly what the Word of God says I should be doing.” One way we do this is by listing in the workbook the massive number of passages on this topic that are in the Word of God. We couldn’t even come close to covering these passages in the DVD.
