I get excited when I see a church effectively using social media to promote its men’s ministry. Today I came across Cypress Fellowship’s men’s ministry’s Facebook page and I love it. Here’s why.
- The name of their men’s group is masculine and immediately conveys what it’s about. “Cypress Fellowship Wingman” tells you their men’s ministry is about men forming relationships in order to help each other in difficult situations.
- The site uses video effectively. For example, video of actual wingman jets flying in formation reinforce their mission. Very masculine.
- The group is updated regularly. It reports on recent meetings with copy, video and pictures. Nothing is stale.
- The group’s mission is stated clearly, both in the page header and in the page posts: “The purpose of this ministry and all facets thereof is to serve God through the church, providing opportunities for men to grow in their faith by getting connected, being accountable, encouraging one another, and praying for one another.”
- The site has a polished, professional look. Great care has been put into it.
- The group is engaging. The site highlights both the fun and serious activities of their men’s group. First time visitors get to pie the pastor. I WANT TO GO AND DO THAT! But men also can find help with addictions. Who in that situation wouldn’t want to do that as well?
How about your church’s men’s ministry? Does it have a Facebook page? If so, leave a comment and share the link to the page. We’d love to see it.
