Book Quotes: Wired to Work: Answering the Two Most Important Questions in Life, Vince D’Acchioli
Chapter One: One Man’s Struggle – Every Person’s Hope
I am going to begin by discussing the necessity of a close personal relationship with God as critical to our ultimate understanding of His purpose for our life. There are two main obstacles that stand in the way of most people experiencing this kind of intimacy with Him. First is our inability to effectively process and let go of our past. I am talking about the crippling effect of past negative life experiences.
The second issue is obedience. It is one thing to let go of your past – another to learn to live a disciplined, obedient life so as not to accumulate more negative experiences.
Chapter Two: Getting to Know Your Very Best Friend
In my case, the hole in my heart brought about by a less than perfect relationship with my dad was never filled until I discovered my real daddy – my heavenly Father. This discovery has so impacted my life that I now believe an intimate relationship with God is the ultimate fulfillment in life – the secret to everything.
Chapter Three: How Am I Wired?
What I am going to share with you now has become the foundation for my life, my ministry and this book. I call it the Three Unalterable Facts:
Fact #1: God knows you and has created you for a special purpose.
Fact #2: God has given you special gifts toward the satisfaction of His purpose.
Fact #3: God wants you to discover what His purpose is.
Chapter Four: Why Am I Here? Discovering God’s Plan for Your Life
There are “Four Factors” that need to line up before you can be sure you are sensing God’s call or purpose in your life. They are as follows:
1. Read it in the Word.
2. Hear it by His Spirit.
3. Affirm it with wise, Godly counsel.
4. See it in your circumstances.
Chapter Five: Understanding Our Challenge
The blame for the condition of today’s society belongs squarely at the foot of the church of Jesus Christ. If we as a body of believers do not accept the responsibility for our condition, we are ignoring the mandate that God has given us.
In the business world, when sales are down, management calls a time out. They want to pinpoint their problem and make a deliberate attempt to find a solution. The time has come for the Body of Christ to call a collective time-out. We need to rediscover our vision. It’s time to rise to the occasion and walk as God intended.
Chapter Six: Making A Difference: Real Christianity In An Unreal World
Four Principles that will Make a Difference
1. Adopt behavior that lights up.
2. Develop a healthy attitude toward others.
3. Be diligent and get out of your comfort zone.
4. Keep the end in view.
Chapter Seven: Stay the Course: Building Accountable Relationships
There are two reasons for establishing accountable relationships. First, we need others in order to help us through life changing growth. Second, and of equal importance, is that we need others to help us to maintain that growth – to hold us accountable and to help us become more consistent.
Because sometimes the process involved for change can be difficult we need others who will pray, love and encourage us through it. Once we are on the other side we will need others to now hold us accountable – help us maintain a steady course – to stay consistent.
Allow me to explain four different types of relationship systems.
1. Discipleship/Mentor
2. Fellowship/Social
3. Study/Informal
4. Accountability/Encourager
