How to Double Your Men’s Ministry in Just Two Months…and Keep Your Men Coming Back for Years!

Sharing is caring!

I have two questions for you. First, what percent of all the adult men in your church are involved in your church’s men’s ministry?

Second, what percent of all the adult men in a typical church does it take to provide every widow, widower and single parent in its congregation with a team of four men who serve them for two hours one Saturday a month, every month, for years?

Only you can answer the first question. But after twenty-five years of experience helping hundreds of churches across the U.S. and Canada start men’s team ministries to their widowed and single parents using the training material on my membership website, Meeting to Meet Needs, I can answer the second question: 33%. That figure varies, of course. But in a typical church, it takes about a third of all its men to provide everyone who needs and wants a team of men with one.

Consequently, starting a men’s team ministry often doubles the involvement of men in their church’s men’s ministry in just a couple of months. Here’s why:

  • Suddenly, your church needs its men’s ministry. If your church’s men’s ministry ceased to exist, would the rest of your church notice? Men’s team ministry to a church’s widowed and single parents provides a critical service all churches need.
  • Your men’s team ministry has focus and purpose. Men know exactly what the goal of their men’s team ministry is: so their church can say, “There is no needy person among us.”
  • Your men’s team ministry draws in men on the periphery of the church. Men love this ministry because it involves doing practical things for people with other men. Men who won’t get involved in other things in their church will get involved in this.
  • Your men’s team ministry accomplishes several things at once. In just a few hours each month, your men get spiritual input, fellowship with other men, serve a person in the church in need, and develop a wonderful testimony in the neighborhood.
  • Your men know exactly what they are doing and why it’s important. Men hate open ended and undefined commitment. Men’s team ministry develops distinct and doable opportunities for continual service over years that achieve phenomenal results.
  • Your men develop significant relationships. Men relate by doing things together, which is why men feel so comfortable doing men’s team ministry.
  • Your men have a reason to come back every month. Because your men understand the love of Christ and know how to practice it, they develop a passion for their men’s team ministry.
  • Your men themselves recruit other men into your men’s team ministry. Herein lies the secret to the success of men’s team ministry in churches. Participating men see other widows, widowers and single moms in their church who need a team. So they become passionate advocates for the ministry and begin recruiting men own their on initiative.

Since 2003 New Commandment Men’s Ministries has helped hundreds of churches throughout North American and around the world recruit teams of men who permanently adopt their widowed and single parents in their congregations for the purpose of donating two hours of service to them one Saturday morning each month. We accomplish this with a free training site called New Commandment Men’s Ministry
