Does Food Matter at a Men’s Breakfast?

My wife and I have attended Crossroads Church in Thornton/Northglenn, Colorado for nineteen years. During that time the quarterly men’s breakfast has been consistently well attended.
There are several reasons for this success. For example, I can always expect an excellent speaker from either inside or outside the church who will focus on a practical topic that is relevant to men. Preceding the speaker is a time of worship with male-oriented worship songs and some brief announcements. Simply put, I know the meeting will be well planned and end on time.
But something else I know will be there is excellent food, food that rivals any breakfast cafe. No pancakes here, men. There’s usually a delicious breakfast casserole, fresh baked biscuits and gravy, mixed fruit, pastries, yogurt, and BACON!
How do the men’s ministry leaders pull this amazing breakfast off? First of all, they have some talented and dedicated women who do the cooking, freeing the men up to fellowship with other men.
Second, they are not shy about suggesting a donation to cover the cost of the breakfast. Usually, it’s around $7.
Third, men help with set up and tear down.
And fourth, they regularly recognize and thank the cooks for their amazing work.
So to answer the question, Does food matter at a men’s breakfast? I would have to say yes, especially when women cook it.
P.S. If you attend Crossroads Church, our next men’s breakfast is Saturday, March 7. Pastor Tim will be speaking on “Cultivating a Love for God’s Word.” Bring an appetite.

Hi, Christoph. Our church has been doing mission trips to Thailand, Lebanon, Uganda and, yes, Mexico.
